Art and Cultural Trips

The Galleries host art and cultural trips throughout the year. Participants can travel with others who enjoy art just like themselves and learn about art and culture nationally and internationally. For more information about the art and cultural trips contact the Galleries at 979.845.9251.

 

Past Art and Cultural Trips

Prague Cultural Trip 2009

The Forsyth Center Galleries sponsored a Prague Cultural Trip from March 13 - 21, 2009.  Students experienced Prague art and culture first hand. While we in Prague, the students visited famous museums such as the Museum of Decorative Arts, the Alfons Mucha Museum, Prague Castle, and Moser Glass Factory. They also attended a ballet at the National Theatre and an opera performance, Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, at the Estates Theater where it premiered in the 18th century.

 

 

London Cultural Trip

The London Cultural Trip toured 10 students in London and Stourbridge, England. While in London, the students visited famous museums such as Victoria and Albert, the National Gallery, Tate Modern, British Museum, and the British Library, to name a few. The student also toured the London streets, visited St. Paul's Cathedral, viewed a West End show, and mastered the underground tube system. The highlight of the trip was traveling to Stourbridge, England to visit the Broadfield House Glass Museum or Red House Glass Cone where many of the Cameo Glass pieces in the Runyon Collection originated. There students were able to view residence artist blowing glass.

Paris Cultural Trip

The Paris Cultural Trip toured students in Paris, Giverny, Versailles. Museum visited included Louvre, the Musee d'Orsay, and the Centre Pompidou. Students also traveled to Giverny to see where the American Impressionists in the Runyon Collection studied in France.     The group also visited famous tourist sites such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame Cathedral.
