SPO Services Island

The MSC Student Programs Office (SPO) depends on its Services Island to coordinate communications and facilities. This "island" is a raised area enclosed by glass windows within MSC 216. Map

This service area provides various scheduling services for facilities and resources managed by the MSC Student Programs Office including Rumours, the Grove, and MSC Bulletin Boards, Banner Spaces and Display Cases.

The Services Island also handles requests by MSC committees and MSC Council resource areas for various portable resources.

The MSC banner spaces, kiosks, and sandwich boards exist for the purpose of disseminating information about recognized student organizations, university departments, and their events.

Any display considered hazardous, illegal, or in violation of University regulations will be removed. Please note that these display areas are not designated for "Free Speech" purposes. In addition, displays or banners shall be in accordance with the University's antidiscriminatory statement.

The Memorial Student Center building is dedicated to those Aggies who gave their lives in defense of our country. In keeping with this dedication statement all displays should be consistent with the original intent of the building itself.

All applications for display space will be reviewed at the time of submission of a completed application, and space will be assigned unless there is a question pertaining to the above which will then be referred to the appropriate MSC Staff/Council officer.

All displays are also subject to the University Rules and Regulations as contained in the Policies and Procedures Manual for Student Organizations. One important requirement is that the name of an organization be clearly included in the display. Copies of these policies are available at the MSC Student Programs Services Island.

Decisions to remove displays or banners will be made by the MSC Director or his/her designee. Such decisions may be appealed at a regularly scheduled MSC Council meeting held on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. Arrangements for appeals will be made by notifying the MSC Council President at 845-1515 within two weeks of the actual removal.

General Policies

  • You and your organization are responsible for checking to be sure your display materials are in good condition.
  • If your reservation procedures are not followed, then reservation privileges for your committee may be discontinued. Your organization will not be able to reserve display or banner space for the remainder of the semester.
  • You MUST remove your display or banner by midnight of the last day of your assigned time period. MSC Student Programs is not responsible for lost materials.
  • If you decide not to use the display or banner space then you must notify the MSC Student Programs Services Island so that the space may be reallocated. IF YOU DO NOT FILL YOUR SPACE BY MIDNIGHT OF THE DAY AFTER YOUR SCHEDULED RESERVATION THEN YOU WILL FORFEIT YOUR RESERVATION.
